"Little Chelsea" Floral Show

Each year at Caspari we celebrate Virginia’s Historic Garden Week by hosting a floral exhibition in our Downtown Charlottesville shop. We opened our doors and gather to celebrate the arrival of spring and highlight the incredible talent of local florists, landscape designers, and our very own local Garden Clubs. As we planned for the event this year inspiration struck when we were reminded of the grandeur of the Royal Horticulture Society’s annual Chelsea Flower Show. We decided to bring a little piece of London to the streets of the Charlottesville Downtown Mall with the theme “Little Chelsea”.

During the hustle and bustle of coordinating the event, our friends at The Scout Guide introduced us to Allison of Hillbrook Collections and we instantly knew we had a new partner. Thus, the Caspari Garden Folly began its journey from dream to Garden Week reality. A designer of Bespoke Garden Sheds, Allison creates finely crafted, stunningly beautiful garden structures in both American and European designs. Together, Caspari President, Lisa, and Allison sat down to design the Caspari Garden Folly, which has a traditional French garden influence. Airy and open, the folly features paned floor to ceiling windows on all four sides, with the front and back sides opening up via a pair of French doors. The exterior features a beautiful Luxembourg Garden-inspired green finish, a sloping cedar shingled roof, and two copper pineapple finials. The final result left us gushing over Allison's work and beaming about the centerpiece of "Little Chelsea".

"I Want One!" — Shop The Garden Folly

We placed the folly in the center of the store and our amazing partners at J.W. Townsend Landscaping flanked it and the store's doors with two beautiful plant-filled urns and two fourteen foot tall maple trees. The trees boldly framed the entry to the event, drawing the eyes up and creating a canopy of green that transformed the space into a shaded secret garden path.

The result of Townsend Landscaping's work was a breathtaking and whimsical welcome to "Little Chelsea"

Throughout the store, our additional partners took over display tables with beautiful botanical designs! Moving between each unique space was reminiscent of traversing a neighborhood pathway from personal backyard garden to personal backyard garden. We especially loved the character of LH Garden's display, as their charmingly dressed wooden mannequins made you want to give a little wave as you would if passed a neighbor tending their front flowerbeds. Their tiered table was topped with colorful hydrangeas and towering delphiniums that invited you to stop and smell the flowers.

The team at Monticello set a window front table in topiaries, ferns, and greenery accented by a bouquet of bright tulips. The elegantly styled table reflected the well-trimmed beauty of their own sprawling estate gardens. terracotta pots and cement urns gave the look a lovely stone foundation.

Catherine Bolton set a table in rich green and purple tones. Draped with a damask textured fabric cloth, the simple table's crown jewel was a large patinaed urn with elaborately scrolling handles full of greenery, purple blooms, and fragrant white lilies. A charming cluster of cherubs was perched at the table's corner and accented with more lovely botanicals.

Throughout the shop, we decorated our own share of tables in various styles ranging from exotic and tropical looks to classic pink & green floral settings.

We immensely enjoyed welcoming spring through the celebration of Historic Garden Week and having the opportunity to host the Charlottesville community and highlight it's local talent. We thank all those who attended and participated in making this beautiful event happen! We can't wait to see the blooms and friendly faces that next year brings.
